This course is being offered by the PSAC-NCR and is aimed at all allies who wish to increase their comfort level and skills in intervening in racist assault situations they may witness (on a bus, street, or other public venue.)

Why are we offering this course now? We are alarmed by the increase of racist intolerances and racist acts. We think allies can make a difference and step-in to stop these incidents if they witness them.

Who should attend? This course is for allies who already have an understanding of racism and who feel comfortable in speaking out.

What knowledge and skills do we aim to grow? Allies will learn to counteract the bystander effect and will learn safe and effective ways of discouraging and stopping these acts. We will learn to intervene, record and report these incidents. We will also learn ways of supporting victims of racist assaults. We will use role plays to prepare for various situations.

When is this course offered? June 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Note: This is not a self-defense course for racialized members. We want to help allies learn these important intervention skills since these are safer when made by them.
