PSAC members working at the Bank of Canada have voted unanimously in favour of strike action after negotiations with the employer reached an impasse.
Members of PSAC Local 71250 – Security guards in Ottawa and Montréal delivered a unanimous strike mandate during votes held on June 3 and 4, sending a clear message to the employer: workers are united and determined to secure a fair collective agreement.
This strike vote comes at the end of the conciliation process without an agreement. Most notably, the employer has failed to offer wages that keep pace with inflation or properly recognize the responsibilities, professionalism, and essential contributions of Bank of Canada security workers.
“Our members have sent a clear and united message,” said Ruth Lau MacDonald, Regional Executive Vice-President, PSAC-NCR. “This unanimous strike mandate shows that workers are prepared to stand together for a fair agreement — one that respects the value of their work and the role they play every day.”
A successful strike vote is a powerful message to the employer: they must return to the table with a fair offer.
To show their solidarity and support for a fair collective agreement, PSAC-NCR is calling on members who work in the downtown core to join these members in a mobilization action on **June 10, 2026, at 7:00 a.m.** outside the Bank of Canada head office in Ottawa at 234 Wellington Street.
So! So! So! SOLIDARITY!
