FB Strike Info Sessions & Vote – Extended Dates!
April 10 to May 23, 2024
Virtual
The Border Services (FB) bargaining unit consists of over 9,000 PSAC-CIU members working across the country who are responsible for protecting Canada’s borders and the planning, development, delivery, inspection and control of people and goods entering Canada.
The FB group will be conducting an electronic strike vote across the country starting April 10 and ending mid-May. A ‘yes’ vote will give PSAC the mandate to authorize strike action if the employer does not come back to the table to address our bargaining demands.
The collective agreement expired in June 2022 and FB members have been without a contract for nearly two years. Since bargaining began in June 2022, CBSA has refused to move on our key issues, forcing the FB bargaining team to declare impasse in September 2023. As the Public Interest Commission process moves forward PSAC is holding a strike vote. This will give our bargaining team the leverage we need to call a strike if necessary.
To provide members with as much information as possible before attending a session or casting a ballot, PSAC has also compiled key questions and answers on the national website page which is updated periodically.
Any questions members may have about strike votes or strike action can be answered at the virtual vote information sessions that they will need to register to and at strike and essential services training sessions that will be announced shortly.
The FB bargaining team is committed to reaching a fair contract that protects our hard-fought gains and provides new rights and protections for PSAC-CIU members.
Steps to Participate in Voting:
- Retrieve your Voter Package (your personal email)
- Register to Attend an Information Session (e-vote platform)
- Attend the Information Session (same e-vote platform)
- Cast Your Virtual Ballot (same e-vote platform)
Your package contains the credentials that you will use for all steps: to register, to attend a session and to cast your vote.
After your successful registration, you will be asked to connect to the portal at least 15 minutes in advance of your selected session. Do not forget to re-fresh your screen to ensure the joining prompt appears just before the session starts.
For members of the NCR who have verified their spam or promo email folder and have still not received their voter package, please contact us at the Vote Help Line at ncr-vote@psac-afpc.com or 613-714-4829. It could simply be that we do not have your personal email address.
Due to overwhelming response, the strike vote as been extended to May 23rd.
