Members of local 77000, Carleton University Post-docs win big improvements

Members celebrate their new collective agreement with Carleton University which includes:

-Significant improvements on health, vision and dental benefits

-More coverage for health premium (70%)

-Professional Development Fund (largest in this sector)

-Free gym membership

-Tuition waiver (1 semester course per academic year)

Post-secondary education will suffer under the Ford Government’s cuts

On January 17, 2019, the Ontario Minister of Training Colleges and Universities Merrilee Fullerton, announced a 10 per cent reduction in tuition fees for domestic students at colleges and universities for 2019-20 and a tuition freeze for 2020-21.

I cannot remember when I first became active in the union, but I can say that within the last four years I have become more visible and accountable to my local and committees that I participate on.
