Say No to RTO Rally
September 24, 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Ottawa City Hall (110 Laurier Ave W)
The Mayor and City Manager have announced that all Ottawa municipal workers must return to the office 5 days a week starting in January. This isn’t just bad for workers, it’s bad for our whole city.
Councillor Jeff Leiper has introduced a motion to rescind this order, and we need to show up in force to support it. Join us Wednesday morning at City Hall starting at 8 a.m. for our rally.
Research shows there’s no evidence that forcing a 5-day RTO increases productivity or improves services. What we do know is that it will:
- Put thousands more cars on our already gridlocked roads, worsening commutes for everyone
- Drive up greenhouse gas emissions, pushing Ottawa further away from its climate targets
- Strain childcare services and force many working parents (especially mothers) out of the workforce
- Put additional strain on our already-fragile public transit
This isn’t just a labour issue. It’s about building a city that works for all of us. Ottawa deserves a modern, flexible approach to work that supports workers, families, and efficient city services.
Join at 8:00 a.m. before the Council meeting for the Say No to RTO rally, featuring speakers from Horizon Ottawa, PSAC-NCR, ATU 279, CAPE, and CIPP-IPPM!
