Day of Mourning 2026
Every year on April 28, we join workers across the country to mark the National Day of Mourning—a time to remember those who have been killed, injured, or made ill because of their work. It is a solemn reminder that behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a community forever changed. As union members, we honour their memory by continuing the fight for safer workplaces and stronger protections for all workers.
We invite all members to take part in commemorations this April 28, whether by attending a local ceremony, observing a moment of silence, or reflecting with colleagues. Together, we reaffirm our commitment to health and safety, solidarity, and the belief that every worker has the right to return home safely at the end of the day.
