Your bargaining team has been hard at work over the summer.
Negotiations have been ongoing since late spring 2024. We will be meeting with the employer in October, and we hope they will present an offer with adequate wages included. We have heard our members loud and clear and, as your bargaining team, we have made it clear to the employer that we will not accept anything less than a fair deal.
The union is still in the process of establishing a maintenance of activities agreement (MOAA; also known as an ESA). The lack of MOAA was a major barrier to our Local taking strike action in the spring. Hearings have been scheduled for November and December with a decision to be eventually made by the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB).
We are frustrated by these delays caused by the CIRB and the impacts those delays are having on our members. PSAC-NCR has organized an email writing campaign to pressure MPs to provide more resources for the CIRB, so decisions like this one can be reached faster in the future. The bargaining team encourages all PSAC-UNE 70367 members to participate by sending an email and sharing the campaign with their networks:
The bargaining team continues to push for a fair deal from the employer as we prepare for the MOAA hearings in November. Though our strike vote has expired, we remain on strike alert!
