Austerity hurts us all — Draw the Line demonstration on September 20
September 20, 10 a.m.
233 Gilmour Street
We all have the power to stop reckless cuts to public services by making our voices heard! Eliminating public services and programs is not what will keep “Canada Strong”.
PSAC-NCR and the Canadian Association of Professional Employees (CAPE) are collaborating to organize a public service contingent at the Ottawa demonstration organized by the Draw the Line coalition on Saturday, September 20 starting at 10:00 AM.
Defending our jobs and the federal public sector from ideological attacks will require building broad coalitions to apply political pressure to this government. You will be taking action alongside thousands of Canadians representing civil society organizations holding the Carney government accountable for its broken promise of “caps, not cuts” while uniting with communities already hit by his reckless agenda. Because austerity hurts us all, we must unite and fight back.
Together, we will continue to fight for the programs and public services that we contribute to, and we know Canadians rely on. Rather than ideological cuts and hype-driven AI rollouts, this government should look for actual efficiency gains in government operations, including ending the outsourcing of our work to pricey outside contractors, cutting down on senior management bloat, and reducing real estate expenses by granting us much-needed remote work rights.
