Emancipation Day Rally and March with Coalition of workers

August 1 is Emancipation Day, a time to reflect on the legacy of the enslavement of Black and Indigenous peoples in Canada, celebrate the strength and perseverance of Black communities across the country, and demand an end to ongoing anti-Black racism in Canadian society and in the federal public service.
The Public Service Alliance of Canada, The Canadian Association of Professional Employees, the Black Class Action Secretariat, the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, and Amnesty International will march from the Human Rights monument Ottawa to the offices of the Privy Council to demand accountability after recent reports detailing anti-Black racism in the highest civil service office.
This is a critical moment in the fight against racism in our society.

When: August 1, 2024 at 11:45 a.m.
Where: Human Rights Monument by Ottawa City Hall for speeches and march to the Privy Council Offices at Elgin and Wellington.
