Strike & Picket Captains Training for NCR PA, EB & TC members

The best way to avoid a strike is to be prepared to go off.

The PSAC-NCR is recruiting hundreds of strike and picketing leaders to be ready in case we have to go on strike.

Strike and picket captain work as a team to ensure the coordination of the strike, picketing operations and to help manage various situations that arise.

YES, I WILL BE A PICKET CAPTAIN

Picket captains are responsible for:

• Distribute signs and materials to picket lines
• Assist in managing picket lines, setting them up and taking them down.
• Provide information to members who have questions about the strike, distribute factsheets to members.
• Identify the media and approach them to facilitate interviews with elected leaders
• Talk to members about picket management and their safety, help manage the premises, deal with various situations, file incident reports with strike leaders if necessary.
• Assist the strike captaion in coordinating with police services.

YES, I WILL BE A STRIKE CAPTAIN

Strike captains are responsible for:

• Coordinate picket lines and pickets captain
• Work with the area coordinators, the mobilization committee and staff representatives.
• Respond to problems occurring on picket lines, delegate tasks to picket captains and strikers, resolve issues as they arise.
• Ensure communication with the police
• Ensure communication with non-striking employees, essential employees, in order to involve them in the strike.

This training is bilingual with interpretation.
