RVAC Statement on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

On this International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, observed annually on March 21, we acknowledge the significance of this date, commemorating the 1960 Sharpeville Massacre in South Africa, a tragic event that claimed the lives of peaceful protesters fighting against apartheid. In reflecting on our own history, we recognize the injustices faced by racialized Canadians, urging governments and people of all backgrounds to unite against racial discrimination. Let us collectively strive to dismantle systemic biases, fostering an inclusive Canada where every individual is treated with dignity, respect, and equality.
