The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) has reached a tentative agreement for workers at the Salvation Army Booth Centre. This follows after workers at PSAC Local 73100 voted overwhelmingly in favour of a strike mandate earlier this week.
The workers at the Salvation Army Booth Centre deliver critical shelter services to some of Ottawa’s most vulnerable residents. These members work in maintenance, administration and food access. They also provide direct support in areas like addictions, mental health and substance use counselling.
The tentative agreement proposes fully retroactive wage increases to bring salaries in line with other shelter workers. Workers will receive wage increases of 16% over three years, as well as an increase to shift premiums. The tentative agreement will also include increases to leave provisions and stronger health and safety language, including requirements to conduct violent risk assessments.
The bargaining team would like to thank the membership for their continued support. They couldn’t have done this without the solidarity that members have shown through their mobilization and strike mandate.
More information about the tentative agreement will be provided at ratification meetings, which will be scheduled in the near future.
