2025 PSAC-NCR Council AGM: A look back

In June, members from across the National Capital Region gathered for the 2025 PSAC-NCR Council Annual General Meeting. It was a full agenda as delegates reviewed key reports, debated resolutions, and helped shape the work ahead for our region.

One of the most important functions of the AGM is to elect our leadership. The PSAC-NCR Council Executive is made up of representatives who help guide the work of the union between AGMs, including the Regional Executive Vice-President (REVP), the Alternate REVP, the regional Treasurer, members-at-large, and representatives for members with separate employers. In addition, each regional committee has a representative on the executive.

This team meets regularly to provide direction, make decisions on regional campaigns and priorities, and support the work of our local leaders and committees. It’s one of the key bodies ensuring that PSAC-NCR remains member-driven and responsive throughout the year.

The newly elected members include:

  • Christian Smith (Regional Treasurer)
  • James Valois (Member-at-Large)
  • Adam Murphy (Member-at-Large)
  • Benjamin Gronfors (Member-at-Large)
  • Ryan Ward (Separate Employer)

Alternates were also chosen:

  • Benoît Gagnon
  • Nariman Hajjar
  • Maya Daccache
  • Steve Leonhard

We also welcomed new members and alternates to the Finance Committee, which plays a vital role in reviewing our budget and financial processes throughout the year:

  • Leah Dauphinée
  • Rasha Alnaqueeb
  • Christine Griffin
  • Chantal Fortin (alternate)
  • Harjot Chopra (alternate)

The 2025 AGM was a reminder of the strength that comes from member participation—whether through standing for election, representing a local or component, contributing to debate, or simply showing up to stay informed. That collective involvement is what keeps the union democratic, connected, and accountable.

With a renewed executive in place and a clear sense of priorities, we are ready to take on the challenges ahead. From defending public services to advancing bargaining and supporting inclusive, harassment-free workplaces, the work continues across the region with determination and solidarity.
