Bargaining teams for IDRC and the Union commenced negotiations in Ottawa on 03 and 04 July 2025. The Union and the Employer have exchanged initial set of proposals that are mostly non monetary. As the negotiation’s process moves forward, the parties will exchange the rest of the proposals including on rates of pay and duration. The Union proposals can be accessed here, and if the Employer agrees to share their initial proposal, we will include that in the updated link.
During the initial two days of bargaining, the parties had good discussions on the issues in these initial proposals. Agreement was reached on a number of housekeeping and administrative matters.
Both parties have agreed to keep the process moving forward at a good pace, with the goal of reaching an agreement in a timely fashion. The parties are scheduling further meetings between October to December where the remaining proposals will be tabled and further discussion on substantive issues will be held.
The Union has submitted an information request letter to the employer to obtain data which will inform some of our outstanding monetary and non-monetary proposals.
