The Essentials of Internal Organizing: from Theory to Practice
Friday, May 29 - Saturday, May 30 - 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Pat McGrath Boardroom, 233 Gilmour Street, Ottawa
This course is open to Treasury Board members.
Organizing and mobilizing are two different ways to engage members. While both are essential, internal organizing focuses on recruiting members and developing activists to foster a long-term commitment toward building a stronger, more sustainable Local.
In this two-day course, participants will examine key aspects of internal organizing and learn how to build Local capacity by putting these principles into practice. We will explore mapping as a strategic tool, examine effective systems for tracking membership engagement, and discuss how to develop both an internal campaign and a compelling message around a central issue. Finally, we will master the art of the organizing conversation.
Bilingualism required: This course will be conducted in both English and French without simultaneous translation. Participants must be able to understand both spoken languages.
