Calling all PSAC members in the National Capital Region! Join us for a rally to fight back against Treasury Board’s misguided 3 day in-office mandate.

This decision was made without any consultation, violates your collective bargaining rights, and disregards your well-being as a federal public service worker.

Where: Terrasses de la Chaudière, 39 Promenade du Portage, Gatineau

When: Thursday, August 8, 2024 12 PM

Join us for speeches followed by an information picket on why this one-size-fits-all approach to telework is incompatible with Canada’s diverse public service.

Treasury Board of Canada announced on May 1st that all federal public service workers will have to work a minimum of three days per week in the office, starting in September. Every worker’s job and situation are unique, and a cookie cutter approach to telework does not work for Canada’s diverse public service.

Our members successfully showed they can do most, if not all, of their work remotely during the pandemic. They delivered for Canadians then and deliver for Canadians now.

Overwhelming evidence shows that telework:

  •  improves work-life balance
  •  increases productivity for workers
  •  leads to a more dynamic workforce
  • creates a safer work environment
  • is better for the environment, with less cars on the road.

PSAC-NCR strongly opposes the Treasury Board’s uniform approach to mandating employees’ presence in the workplace.

This unexplained, uncosted, and unplanned return to office is unacceptable. Workers are forced into offices that often don’t meet safety requirements, with poor air quality, mould, rodent and insect infestation.

On top of it all, the employer has burdened public service workers with the cost to reinvigorate the downtown cores of Ottawa and Gatineau, as well as their transit systems. We say this is not on us!

We demand:

  • A commitment to assess telework on a case-by-case basis

Adding remote work in collective agreements
