SSHRC/PSAC-UNE 70372 Information Session & Dispute Resolution Route Vote

The PSAC and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) will soon be entering into a bargaining round as the current collective agreement expires March 31, 2025.
Before bargaining begins the PSAC will be holding a vote on the dispute resolution route selection.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
In order to be eligible to vote you must ensure the following steps are followed/met:
- Have received your voter package containing your Personal Identification Number (PIN) by e-mail from PSAC-NCR Votes / Simply Voting
- Stay informed on how and where to vote by ensuring that the PSAC has your personal email address to add to the voter list
- Be a member of the bargaining unit
3 STEPS…
STEP 1: YOU ARE INVITED TO ATTEND THE NON-OBLIGATORY HYBRID INFORMATION SESSION
Members are not required to be a member in good standing (MIGS) to participate at a dispute resolution route vote and that it is not mandatory to attend the Information session but, helpful.
If you choose to attend, here is the Hybrid Information Session meeting info which you can join virtually or in person:

- Please join the session a few minutes early to make sure you are able to log-in and address any technical problems in advance (virtual).
STEP 2: RECEIVE YOUR VOTER PACKAGE CONTAINING YOUR PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (PIN)
- For those PSAC members for whom we have a personal email, your voter package containing your voting PIN we will be sent to you by email on November 15, 2024 from PSAC-NCR Votes / Simply Voting via vote@simplyvoting.com.
- If you have not received your PIN, please contact the regional office vote line at ncr-vote@psac-afpc.com or by phone at 613-714-4829.
- please check your junk e-mail folder as it could be sent there.
- ensure to provide PSAC with your current personal email address.
- if you have not already done so, it is recommended to create a PSAC online account so that you can regularly update your contact information at https://psacunion.ca/user.
STEP 3: HOW TO VOTE (1:30 pm Nov 19th to Nov 21st at 4 pm)
Whether you have attended an information session or not, you will be eligible to vote. All members of the bargaining unit are eligible to vote, whether they are Rand or not MIGS.
- The voting instructions will be included in the voter package sent by email from PSAC-NCR Votes & Simply Voting.
- Using your confidential and unique PIN that was sent to you by e-mail, you can vote any time between Tuesday, November 19 from 1:30 p.m. until Thursday November 21 at 4:00 pm.
- This vote is by secret ballot.
INFORMATION SESSION NOT MANDATORY FOR DRR VOTES
- The PSAC constitution (regulation 15C) does not require all members to attend an information session before they vote at dispute resolution route votes. The session will be held in hybrid format (in-person with virtual option) and will allow members to ask questions regarding the two options for dispute resolutions. The date and time of the session is listed below.
- Requests for special accommodation
- If you require any accommodation to be able to participate fully in the webinars (such as ASL interpretation), please contact your PSAC Regional office as soon as possible at ncr-vote@psac-afpc.com or by phone 613-714-4829.
MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING (MIGS) AND RAND APPLICATION ARE NOT REQUIRED FOR DRR VOTES
Even if it is not required for this type of vote, you might still want to update your status for a future vote pertaining to ratifications or strikes. In some situations, PSAC members are not yet, or have ceased being, members in good standing (MIGS). These include:
- Extended leave
- If you are on extended leave (e.g., long term disability, maternity or parental leave, etc.) you are no longer a member in good standing (MIGS), you can make a request to remain in good standing to the National President via this online form. This will allow you to participate in the future votes pertaining to ratifications or strikes.

- Signing Your Union Card
- If you have never signed a union card, you will want to sign one in time for the next potential ratification vote. You can fill out the e-Rand card online which will ensure your MIGS status.
