Take part in the Remote Work Coalition’s Housing Advisory Group

Calling PSAC, CAPE and PIPSC members in the National Capital Region (NCR) — do you know a lot about housing? Do you have specific expertise in affordable housing, homelessness or office buildings? We want your perspective!

We know that remote work has many benefits. One of these benefits is the potential revitalization of urban spaces. By repurposing existing office spaces into mixed, community-focused areas, with parks, cultural centres, childcare centres and affordable housing, we could save millions of federal tax dollars. This would also enhance the diversity and vibrancy of our urban areas and ensure our communities are complete, offering residents a more balanced lifestyle.

Affordable housing is a major issue in our area, and the fight for remote work can help address the housing crisis in the National Capital Region (NCR). We want to consult with people with an expertise in housing to understand the issue in its entirety. This expertise could be specific to housing policy, financing, construction or housing insecurity, or lived experience relating to these topics.

As part of this advisory group, you would help create a discussion paper, which will be presented at a housing roundtable event in the coming months. This discussion paper will help form the basis of our demands towards politicians around affordable housing and reconfiguring public offices for remote work as part of our bigger platform building effort.

Time commitment

Participation in this advisory group will take between 2 and 5 hours over the next month. There will be paid union leave available for PSAC members.
