PSAC launches new alternation tool to support members facing potential job cuts

Alternation is a negotiated right in your collective agreement. It allows an opting or surplus member who wants to stay in the public service to exchange positions with a non-affected member who wants to leave. PSAC’s new platform makes it easy to find potential matches so you can take advantage of this important provision in your collective agreement. While PSAC created this platform to help connect members, the final decision about whether your alternation is accepted rests with management.

National Capital Region Council – Fall 2025 Meeting
